About the Course

Renal Nursing

This novel branch of nursing cares for patients suffering from kidney diseases and offers both the patients and their families education and instructions regarding the treatment plans. The scope of practice for renal nurses is broad, ranging from direct clinical practice to management activities.

The concepts of Renal Nursing aim to equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed for person-centered care as a renal nurse in a healthcare system across the life span.

Students will learn about the importance of person-centered care for individuals and families in acute, chronic, and rehabilitative care, as well as long-term facilities, and provide care to culturally diverse individuals, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, who need culturally competent care.

The teaching approach in this course is predicated on a strong focus on persons with Renal Nursing, thus people suffering from Renal diseases are admitted subsequently to acute, chronic, aged care, disability, and rehabilitation healthcare facilities.

The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing also serves as a gateway for students wanting to pursue a Master of Nursing degree in Australia, either on-campus or online.
