Neonatal Nursing

This course aims to qualify registered nurses to practice as neonatal nurses at IHM. It leads to a Master’s degree in Nursing. Students may further their studies to obtain a Master’s degree in Nursing through online or face-to-face classes. This course aims to prepare students in their provider role by enhancing their theoretical knowledge and practical skills of nursing science to meet international standards.

Neonatal Nursing

Students will Learn how to:

Analyse, with depth, the responsibilities and range of practice of a neonatal nurse in relation to preterm birth, congenital anomalies, illness of the respiratory system, birth injury, peripartum asphyxia, brain lesion, and metabolic disease.
Employ critical analysis skills, problem-solving, and communication skills in the assessment and intervention of care provided to neonates in conjunction with other health professionals within the neonatal scope of practice.

Take on a leadership role in a multidisciplinary team for the provision of care aimed at achieving optimal health outcomes for newborn patients.

Evaluate legal, ethical, social, cultural, and political factors that may affect the implementation of nursing care at the individual level.

Formulate, assess, and apply relevant outcome-specific nursing interventions for newborns based on current evidence.
